Welcome to the CIJA Saxophone Competition

The Carinthian International Jazz Award (CIJA) aims to not only culturally enrich and diversify the Carinthian cultural landscape, but also to provide a platform for highly talented young saxophonists from around the world. Each year, the CIJA takes place at the beautifully restored cloister ruins in Arnoldstein, Austria. Since its founding in 2018, this prestigious event has welcomed finalists from a diverse range of countries including Israel, France, Italy, the USA, Canada, Colombia, Thailand, Colombia, Slovenia, and Hungary.

As the founder of the CIJA and a passionate saxophonist myself, I am deeply committed to nurturing the talent of young aspiring jazz saxophonists. I believe that this event not only provides performance opportunities but also fosters invaluable networking possibilities. I am hopeful that many young musicians will take advantage of this unique platform to showcase their skills and connect with fellow artists.

I look forward to welcoming all the talented participants at the next CIJA. Together, let’s continue to build a vibrant global community of jazz enthusiasts and celebrate the art of saxophone performance.

Warm regards,

Dr. Lukas Gabric
